How does E-Invoicing (FATOORAH) Works?

In Saudi Arabia (KSA), the implementation of e-invoicing occurs in two phases.

• Phase One: Generation

Phase one, also referred to as the generation phase, allows taxpayers to generate and store e-invoices starting from December 4, 2021. Throughout this period, a ZATCA compliant e-invoicing system is accessible, eliminating the need for data or invoice communication with ZATCA during this phase

• Phase Two: Integration

The second phase, known as the integration phase, will be executed in stages for specific taxpayer groups. Starting January 1, 2023, it is mandatory to link e-invoices with the ZATCA system for verification. ZATCA will issue an integration notification six months in advance.

The integration phase focuses on technical requirements. Your system must utilize APIs for communication with other systems, generate a UUID (Universally Unique Identifier), a digital signature, a distinct invoice number, and a cryptographic stamp.
